Tenuous Agreement to Resume Rail Operations in Canada
2024-08-26

Dear Valued Customer,

Beginning today, Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Kansas City railroads have resumed operations at their terminals. This is the result of a joint order from the Canadian government and labor-relations board that no more work stoppages can take place while the involved parties are in arbitration.

As terminal operators manage the lockout induced backlog, anticipate sharp increases of cargo dwell times, which could cause significant delays throughout the supply chain.

With that in mind, we strongly recommend that you reach out to your logistics advisor who can help you identify alternate strategies that will minimize the impact this backlog will have on your cargo.

OEC Group is closely monitoring the situation and will keep you informed as more information becomes available. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to your client solutions representative for any questions you may have regarding this developing situation.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

OEC Group
